Dream Big:READ! is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program. Throughout the summer, there will be plenty of activities for all ages. Our summer reading programming is mostly sponsored by The Friends of Cook Memorial Library. Look at our events calendar and/or come to the library and pick up a bookmark for your refrigerator for a complete listing of our events.

The kick-off event of the Summer Reading Program will feature cartoonist, Marek Bennett, who will present a 3-hour Comics Workshop for kids ages 9-12 on June 25th from 4-7 pm.
Fifteen lucky kids aged 9-13 will be able to spend three hours with Vermont cartoonist, Marek Bennett.
Sign up early.

Come explore the infinite world of graphical storytelling with cartoonist
Marek Bennett! Activities include:
• learn simple ways to create exciting, expressive characters
• learn artistic techniques to “catch your reader’s eye”
• draw clear, dynamic comics that hold your readers’ attention
• how to self-publish your stories as minicomics

Each participant creates an original cast of characters, plus one or more
completed pages of an original comic.
Everybody can be a cartoonist!

This program is supported by a grant from the US Institute of Museum and Library Services and donations from the Byrne Foundation, CHILIS, Cogswell Benevolent Trust, and the NH Library Association.
