Two popular areas to search, Reference Links and Local History are under Services on the navigation bar.
The most efficient way to find what you’re looking for is to use the search box on the right side of the navigation bar. Just put in a keyword (or several), be it Grisham, skiing, Tamworth, or programs. This will search all of the library’s content, including our collection, you can use the tools that appear on the right side of the page to refine and limit your search.
If you type two keywords into the search box–Maine kayaking, for instance–you will get every title that contain both words in its tags first, then the titles that contain one of the two words.
NOTE: “Browse” function is temporarily out-of-order.
Try the ‘browse’ button on the navigation bar and search for ‘new additions.’ When you arrive at a title that interests you, be sure to click on ‘there’s more, read it all’ and also try clicking on the title. With the newer books, more information comes up, including the jacket blurb and Amazon reviews. I admit that the ‘Related’ function is sometimes puzzling (wonky cataloging, I’m afraid.)
In case you were wondering, the searches are limited to 150 records because nobody is going to page through more results than that without falling asleep. So start a keyword search, scroll down through the results until you get a brainstorm about a new one, then type in a new keyword from wherever you are, or a string of them, hit ‘enter’ and there you go rabbiting off again. If you are so moved, leave a comment on your rabbit trail as you go.
