Arts Council of Tamworth is presenting a Summer Film Series at 7:00 p.m. on Mondays at Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth, and Tuesdays OR Wednesdays at Moultonborough Library.

The Italian (PG13) July 23 & 25
For most Russian orphans, the chance to be adopted is a dream come true. But six-year-old Vanya Solntsev has other hopes. After discovering that his mother is still alive, the abandoned boy teaches himself to read so as to learn her address and set off on a perilous journey to find her. (Russian)

History Boys (R) July 30th & August 1st
A witty comedy about eight boisterous-yet-talented schoolboys hoping to gain admittance to England’s most prestigious universities. They’re aided on their quest by two teachers, a shrewd young upstart and an inspiring old eccentric, whose opposing philosophies challenge the boys to confront the true meaning of education and the relative values of happiness and success. (English)

Quinceanera (R) August 6th & 8th
A Sundance Film Festival Winner, Quinceañera is a small film with a big heart. The story follows the travails of young Magdalena (Emily Rios), a teen in the Mexican-American, but gentrifying, Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park. As Magdalena’s 15th birthday approaches, and the festive coming-of-age quinceañera party that accompanies it, life throws her a curve ball in the form of an unexpected–and possibly miraculous–pregnancy.
