Over two years ago, spurred on by the nascent Sustainable Tamworth Group, the library put the word out to the community for help with assembling a collection on Sustainability. This concept of a special collection on a topic of common interest, temporarily assembled by the community and for the community is a great way to share ideas and galvanize community action. Since that shared collection was housed in the library, the farmer’s market was initiated, the Tamworth Energy Committee was formed, and Sustainable Tamworth is still alive and well and busy.
As part of his graduate study, Steve Fairlamb has created a survey about Sustainability in Tamworth, please take the time to fill it out online. He has also placed flyers at the library, so come on in to pick one up.
Even though the “people’s” sustainability collection has moved from the library to the Other Store, and is still available to the community, the library has continued to buy books on ecology, green investing, farming, sustainable development, and environmental education. We have books for children and middle readers as well as adults. I list a few of the many below.
