On Tuesday, August 4th at 4 p.m., the library presents Robert Rivest, a comic mime artist, in a show called “Laughter is the Best Medicine.”
Rivest has presented more than 4,000 performances in 11 countries in Europe, Africa, and across the United States. A student of Marcel Marceau, he trained for more than 10 years with internationally renowned masters of mime, dance, theater, and improvisation.
Today he is one of the most prolific mime artists in the world. He has created more than 120 original works for television, symphony orchestras, dance and theater companies, hospitals, science and art museums, as well as schools, libraries, churches, and nature centers. In 2001 he founded The Rivest School of Mime Theater, where he teaches and directs beginners through professionals.
The show “Laughter is the Best Medicine,” is a comic collection of mime stories full of humor and awe-inspiring illusion. Robert Rivest makes mime, comedy, and improvisation look so easy, children and adults eagerly volunteer for his hilarious interactive pieces.
