Even though I am an ‘old’ librarian (I don’t feel old), I have a great interest in the young, hip, tech-savvy librarians coming out of library school in the 21st century. They are changing the profession along with its stereotypical image.
From the old image of the shushing, hostile authoritarian librarian in a bun to culturally diverse librarians who thrive on technology, and bring new attitudes, styles and skill sets to the profession, the times they are a’changin’.
Many of these young, innovative librarians blog about their experience and their vision. And us oldsters have a golden opportunity to listen and learn. Here is a list of award-winning blogs.
The stand-up librarian who has been blogging for a little over a year seems to have modeled her fashion style, if not her career, on Parker Posey in the 2003 movie, Party Girl.
