2015 is the International Year of Soils, and what today’s soils need most is organic matter. In the recycling world, the current hot topic is “organics” – “wastes” that contain carbon, such as biosolids (treated wastewater solids), food scraps, leaf and yard waste, composts, etc. Organics are incredible resources – generating renewable energy and providing numerous benefits to soils in home gardens, lawns, parks, agriculture, horticulture, and silviculture. Come learn and discuss how your compost pile and home septage is – or can be – part of this growing trend to keep organics out of landfills and improve soils.
Celebrate the International Year of Soils – Recycle Organics! a talk by Ned Beecher on May 20th at 7:00 at the Cook Memorial Library in Tamworth.
