This summer’s Summer Reading Program, with the theme “Every Hero Has a Story” has been the busiest we can remember. We had more sign-ups, and have more kids actively participating than ever. We’ve had the happy dilemma of needing to gather more prizes so we have enough for all of the participants. There’s a lot of reading going on in Tamworth this summer!
Our library’s Summer Reading Program is a community effort, led by the amazing Amy Carter, who starts planning for summer way back when there’s still a few feet of snow on the ground. Each week for six weeks, there is a story time for little ones on Tuesdays at 10:30 and an activity for bigger kids on Wednesday afternoons. Making all this happen is a slew of community members who volunteer time and talent to provide these programs for kids, and local businesses that donate prizes and program refreshments. Friends of Cook Memorial Library fund some programs, including the Children’s Museum of NH visit on July 8 and the comics workshop with artist Marek Bennett on July 29.
