The Friends of Cook Memorial Library are holding their annual membership drive, and getting ready for their annual meeting next month. If you didn’t get the Friends’ annual letter and membership form in the mail, you may pick one up at the library and join this group of good folks who do great things for your library.
As Friends President Donna Whipple noted in the membership mailing, the Friends of Cook Memorial Library are “focused on assisting the good work of the library. We are able to do this through memberships and donations from you, our major supporters.” Friends also raise funds through monthly used-book sales, the Cabin Fever Book & Bake Sale in February and the Annual Perennial Plant Sale and Raffle with Carroll County Altrusa in the spring.
Friends of Cook Memorial Library provide funding for library programs for all ages throughout the year, and for specialized equipment, museum passes, downloadable audiobooks, ebooks, and digital magazines, educational workshops for library staff, and additional new books for the library’s collection. The Friends also partner with Altrusa for the Baby Bag Project, which provides each newborn in Tamworth with a handmade book bag loaded with board books to start baby’s home library.
