Cook Memorial Library and Tamworth Recreation Department received a “Summer Readers” grant from the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF), a nonprofit organization that provides free literacy programs in New Hampshire and Vermont. CLiF will visit Tamworth on Monday, July 25 at 10:30 am at the K.A. Brett School. Children taking part in the Tamworth Summer Recreation program will attend, and families from the larger community are also welcome.
At this event, a CLiF presenter will tell stories, read aloud from books, and share the love of words, reading, and writing. Every child who attends will choose two books to keep from a wide selection of brand-new children’s books.
CLiF’s Summer Readers program aims to prevent the summer slide by partnering with community organizations to reach young readers at greatest risk through storytelling and free books for each child. CLiF is making over 100 Summer Readers visits in New Hampshire and Vermont this summer. Thank you, CLiF!
