Stop in between July 7 and 14 and see a 3D printer in action. Do you have a file you’d like to have 3D printed? Contact us for details on file requirements, printing fees, and to set up a time.
This 3D printer comes to us thanks to the NH State Library, which now has several 3D printers that are shared by NH public libraries by region. Our Lakes Region 3D printer is named Whimsy. Its build volume (maximum size for a single print) is 12 cm x 12 cm x 11.5 cm (4.72 in x 4.72 in x 4.53 in). After all the libraries in our region have the printer for a week, we’ll be able to schedule a longer visit.
You can find 3D rendering software and sample 3D print projects online at tinkercad.com, or find ready-to-go files at thingiverse.com, or if you recently updated your Windows 10 computer, it came with a new program, Paint 3D, that can be used to create files for 3D printing. All of these programs can be used on library computers.
PLEASE contact us to reserve a time to use the printer, during regular library hours from July 8 to July 12, beginning no later than 1-1/2 hours before closing.
