Beginning in January, AdventureQuest, a table top role-playing game for children and teens 10 to 14 years old, will begin at the Cook Memorial Library. The first 5-episode season of AdventureQuest will meet on January 15 and continue weekly on Tuesdays through February 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Enrollment is limited to 7 participants for each season.
AdventureQuest will be led by KevinMahoney, Ed.D, an educator who developed this game over 25 years ago to teach kids to work together as a team and to develop communication and problem-solving skills. AdventureQuest centers around Dr. Mahoney telling as tory to the group of 4-7 players. Each player controls the actions of one character in that story. The players work together as a team to overcome obstacles, solve mysteries and explore the world of the story. The players’ actions and the leader’s descriptions combine to create a unique and imaginative adventure. Each weekly episode connects together with the last to build a storyline in the course of a season.
