If you have been holding onto books to donate to the Friends of Cook Memorial Library book sales, here’s some good news! The Friends will hold a “bring your book donations” time on Friday, July 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on the front lawn of the Cook Memorial Library. Rain date is Saturday, July 25, also from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Donations of books can only be accepted at this specific time. Please do not drop book donations at the library at other times.
If you plan to come, please wear a mask. Volunteers from the Friends will be out in front of the library on the “bring your donations” day to make sure the books you bring are ones that will work for the book sale. Books that cannot be accepted will be sent home with you.
Here’s some advice about what kinds of books do not make good book sale donations:
- Books that are musty, mildewy, or moldy. If they’ve been in your barn or basement, it is likely they are.
- Books on medical topics or self-help that are more than three years old
- Textbooks more than three years old
- Encyclopedias, Time-Life series, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
There is no date yet for when the Friends’ Book Sales will resume. The Friends are busy working on a creative and safe solution!
