At their May meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to revise the Circulation Policy which determines the privileges provided by a library card. Resident and Part-Time Resident cardholders will have full borrowing privileges of books and other items at the library as well as access to the library’s digital offerings. But, due to budget concerns, Non-Resident cardholders will be able to borrow physical materials only. Access to online downloadable and streaming materials including NH Downloadable Books (via OverDrive and the Libby app) and Kanopy will not be provided to Non-Resident cardholders. The library pays for these digital items per use, unlike books or DVDs which are purchased once and can be lent many times. Our library’s funding comes mainly from local taxpayers, plus grants and donations, and the past year has seen an increase in interest and use of our digital collections. Trustees remain committed to providing a no-fee library card for nonresidents so they may be able to borrow books, magazines, and DVDs during their visits to Tamworth.
