story timeStorytimes are held at 10:30 a.m. on the first three Tuesdays of each month.

Baby Lapsit Time for babies and parents/caregivers: Tuesdays, at 1:00 pm. Led by Children’s Librarian Amy Carter, this baby time is an opportunity to teach each other rhymes and songs and games that your babies will enjoy and learn from. Amy can help you find books that your baby will enjoy and teach you some easy first signs to use as your baby grows.

Yoga class for kids ages 2 to 5 (wintertime only): Green Turtle Yoga’s Tara Schroeder will be back in December with little kids’ yoga on Fridays at 10:30 through the month of March. Thanks to sponsors Friends of Cook Memorial Library, there is no fee for this program.

Join one of our Reading Clubs:

Bookworms: reading club for ages 7-10 will next meet on Monday, October 15th, 5:00-6:30 pm. Stop in to borrow a copy of “Fairy Tale Comics” edited by Chris Duffy to read ahead of time. Come on the 15th to talk about the book, play games, and eat pizza. Email Amy Carter at or stop in the library to sign up.

Bibliomaniacs: reading club for ages 11 and up will next meet on Monday, October 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Stop in now to pick up a copy of “Safekeeping” by Karen Hesse to read ahead of time, and come on the 1st to talk about the book,  play games, and eat pizza. Summer Reading Program: Our 2018 Summer Reading Program has wrapped up. We enjoyed the theme “Libraries Rock!” Read about the 2018 program here. 2019’s theme will be “a universe of stories.”

Legos and More Club for school-age kids (kindergarten and up): First two Wednesdays of each month, October through May, 3:45-4:45 pm. Call or stop in to sign up.

4-H Tamworth Makers Club: for ages 9 and up, led by UNH Cooperative Extension/4-H’s Claes Thelemarck. It is held on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 pm during the school year. Contact Claes at claes.thelemarck@unh.edufor more information about the club. If you are an adult or teen 16 or older, we need volunteers to help with this program. All training is provided, no experience necessary, just be willing to explore ideas and learn along with the kids! Contact Mary at the library for more information about volunteering, 323-8510.

Museum/Park Passes: Friends of Cook Memorial Library provide passes for two nearby, family-friendly museums, the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm and Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, and a day pass for NH State Parks. Call or stop in the library to request a pass. In addition, the Libby Museum in Wolfeboro has donated 10 family passes for their 2018 season for library members.
