Celebrate 2021’s National Poetry Month with us! Our library has a strong tradition of supporting poets and poetry. Local poets and staff members Peggy and Lucy have come up with several ways to encourage enjoyment of poems this April.

PASSING OUT POEMS

  • Tamworth Meals on Wheels recipients will have poems tucked in with their meal packages this month.
  • Librarians will tuck a poem into each package of library items set out in our foyer for patrons to pick up.

POETRY CIRCLE

There will be a Poetry Circle on the last Monday of the month, April 26, at 7:00 p.m., like the ones we used to have in the Front Room. It will be outdoors if weather is fair, Zoom if not (here is the link). Join in for reading or simply listening.

ALSO, FYI

The Yeoman’s Fund posts a poem every day in April on the two local e-boards, The Tamworth Exchange and the Sandwich Board. This year’s theme is finding joy at home, which seems – like the Cook Library community art show of portraits of faces coming up in the fall – to fit with all our desires to enjoy this pandemic while we’ve got it, and to seek out and celebrate what we have under our noses.
