IMPORTANT: Access to the main entrance, children’s room, and meeting rooms will be affected during installation.
Beginning March 16 and continuing through the end of March, the 25 year-old lift (“elevator”) that provides access to the library’s lower level meeting room and history room will be removed and replaced with a new, updated lift. During this time, access to the library’s main entrance will be limited or blocked. Our goal is to keep the library open by using the side entrance to the historical front room of the library, where library staff will greet you and let you know what areas of the library are open for browsing. Note that the side entrance has stairs.
What to know about using the library during construction:
Use the side entrance: If the stairs present a barrier, call us at 603-323-8510 and we will be happy to meet you outside or at your vehicle to arrange for borrowing or returning items, making copies or faxes, etc.
Children’s Room closed: For safety’s sake, the library’s children’s room areas will be closed during construction, and there will be no indoor play space available. Library staff will be happy to retrieve books and other items from the children’s room for you to borrow. Tuesday morning storytimes will be held outside behind the library as usual.
Using the book return: Only use the book return to drop off library items if the walkway is free of construction materials and workers. If the walkway is blocked, call us at 603-323-8510 to renew items.
Noise: This will be a noisy project! The library will not have quiet places to work, read, or study. Find quieter spaces at nearby libraries.
Meeting Rooms: We will not schedule any new meetings in our meeting rooms during the time of the construction. We have contacted the groups who have regular meetings scheduled to make arrangements for meeting room use during construction. The lower level meeting rooms can only be reached by using the side entrance stairs, and the rooms may not be available at all times the library is open.
