Did you know that our Granite State’s granite contains small amounts of uranium? The uranium naturally breaks down and forms radon gas that we can breathe. Unfortunately, radon has no color, taste or smell to let you know you are breathing it. The only way to know if you have radon in your home is to test for it.

Our Library of Things now has a second home radon detector thanks to NH DHHS’s New Hampshire Radon Program. With your library card, you can borrow one of our detectors for a week to perform a short term test. If results indicate a follow up test, you can request a kit for no cost through the NH DHHS at https://states.aelabs.com/#/nh.
