The Cook Memorial Library will host a presentation and discussion on “The Ethics of AI” on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 p.m. The program will be presented by Kiki Berk,
Professor of Philosophy at Southern New Hampshire University.
At this program, Berk will explore what it means to be human in the age of AI, asking whether an AI could be conscious and what kinds of ethical implications that brings up, and how morality and biases are consciously or unconsciously being programmed into AI. Participants will come away with a clearer understanding of the ethical landscape of AI and the tools to think critically about its future impact.
Contact or stop in the library before the program to get suggested readings that will support participation in the discussion.
Kiki Berk received her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the VU University Amsterdam in 2010. Her current research interests are Philosophy of Death and Philosophy of Meaning in Life.
This event is made possible by a grant from New Hampshire Humanities.
