Hi everyone,
If you spent time today dealing with water going where it isn’t wanted, consider checking out our January book discussion book “Water Always Wins: Thriving in an Age of Drought and Deluge” by Erica Gies, a good read about mitigating the effects of flood and drought using old and new “slow water” approaches. Borrow the book to read now and plan to join us for a discussion on Zoom on January 22. Register for the Zoom link at bit.ly/cml-clc-1-22-25.
Holiday hours this week: Closing at 4 on Tuesday, January 31, closed on Wednesday, January 1. Happy New Year!
Our 2025 library calendar sale continues: now priced at $10 each.
Here’s what’s happening this week at your library:
Mobile Library to Remick Acres, Mon 12/30, 2:00 PM
Poetry Hour, Mon 12/30, 5:00 PM: come read and listen to poems about endings and beginnings.
Outdoor Nature-based Storytime, Tues 12/31, 10:30 AM: Because of today’s heavy rain and the amount of water on the ground outside behind the library, we’ll decide whether storytime will be held at the end of the day on Monday or on Tuesday morning. Call us to check before heading out.
Coming up next week:
Radon: What You Need to Know (on Zoom), Wed 1/8, 6:30 PM. Learn about radon and why you should test your home for it. Tom Jarvela of The Radon Library Program, an organization he founded to collaborate with libraries in the Granite State to promote radon awareness, will present and answer questions. Cosponsored by Green Mountain Conservation Group, who have provided the Cook Memorial Library with a radon test kit that can be borrowed. To register for the Zoom, go to bit.ly/cml-radon
