Hi everyone,
This week we’re cohosting a Zoom talk on radon, which reminds me to remind everyone about our Library of Things, a collection of tools, equipment, devices and other things that can be borrowed from the library, including a radon testing kit. Thanks to a grant from the Network of the National Library of Medicine, our library just received an air quality test kit which will be ready for lending after we try it out at the library first. What other testing devices would be useful for our library to lend? Yesterday I heard about a library that lends a thermal image camera and wonder if that’s something people in Tamworth would like to borrow to use at their homes.
Here’s what’s happening this week at your library:
Mobile Library to Remick Acres, Mon 1/6, 2:00 PM
Outdoor Nature-based Storytime, Tues 1/6, 10:30 AM
Board Games, Tues 1/7, 5:00-8:00 PM (Did you know our Library of Things includes board games? Come check one out.)
Mountains to the Sea writing group, Wed 1/8, 10:30 AM on Zoom. Join online at https://bit.ly/mtns-sea-24-25.
Bingo Club, Wed 1/8, 1:00 PM
Radon: What You Need to Know (on Zoom), Wed 1/8, 6:30 PM. Learn about radon and why you should test your home for it. Tom Jarvela of The Radon Library Program, an organization he founded to collaborate with libraries in the Granite State to promote radon awareness, will present and answer questions. Cosponsored by Green Mountain Conservation Group, who have provided the Cook Memorial Library with a radon test kit that can be borrowed. To register for the Zoom, go to bit.ly/cml-radon
Coming up next week:
We will close the library early on Monday, January 13 at 3:00 PM for a staff meeting.
