For summer 2025, we invite you to color our world through reading and other fun activities at the Cook Memorial Library! Our Summer Reading Program offers a spectrum of ways to enjoy reading this summer. Readers of all ages–as well as those who listen or read along–are invited to join our program.

This year, instead of individual reading logs, we will have a colorful community reading tracker posted on the lift door next to our service desk. Beginning on July 7, and continuing for six weeks, we invite summer readers to come to the library to tell us about and record one thing related to your reading for the previous week. This could be the title of your favorite book, a drawing of a character or place you read about, a line that stands out in your memory–anything that can be written, drawn, or taped on the door!

By the end of the summer, we will have a community rainbow celebrating books and reading to admire and be inspired by. Each time you visit the library and add something to our community reading tracker, you can pick up a fruity (and colorful!) ice pop and get two tickets to enter into a raffle drawing for your choice of fun prizes. Last chance to enter the raffle will be Friday, August 15. Prize winners will be notified on Saturday, August 16.

Thanks to the Friends of Cook Memorial Library for supporting library programs and to the Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) for grants that foster literacy and the love of reading.
