The Cook Memorial Library is a member of the Sustainable Libraries Initiative. Library staff members participate on the New Hampshire Library Association’s Sustainability Committee.
The CML Sustainability Team is investigating library purchases, practices, and programs to develop sustainable, economical, and climate-friendly solutions.
Some recent sustainability initiatives:

- Return to paper library cards and introducing virtual library cards
- Reducing use of plastic book covers
- Reducing use of plastic trash bags
