The Cook Memorial Library invites people of all ages to an evening of writing and drawing nonsense limericks. This fun hands-on program will take place at the library on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:00 p.m. with award-winning author and part-time Madison resident J.H. (Jean) Diehl.
No writing or drawing experience is needed—just bring your imagination. This event is for kids, parents, grandparents, and anyone of any age who enjoys rhymes, wordplay, or drawing. This program is inspired by Diehl’s new book, “The Daydreaming Sink,” a collection of 36 nonsense limericks about household objects.
At the program, after enjoying a slice or two of pizza, participants will together clap the lively rhythm of limericks, then write some 5-line nonsense verses about household objects, and create drawings to go with them.
Diehl’s middle grade novel “Tiny Infinities,” was a Bank Street College of Education Best Book of the Year and Junior Library Guild Gold Selection; her picture books “Loon Chase” and “Three Little Beavers” were inspired by experiences at Silver Lake. She had fun in July participating in The Barnstormer’s Script Circle for the second year in a row.
Jean Diehl will have copies of her book “The Daydreaming Sink” available for purchase and signing after the program.
Registration is required to attend. Register by October 6 using the online form at https://bit.ly/limericks10-7-26.
